The Pivotal Event Businesses Fund has been established to provide financial support to event businesses critical to Scotland’s events sector and without whom our capacity to deliver major events would be significantly reduced.

About the fund

The £6 million fund is being delivered by VisitScotland on behalf of the Scottish Government and has been developed in consultation with the Event Industry Advisory Group.

The fund is open to event businesses whose primary role as organisers, suppliers, contractors and venues is critical to the survival of the events sector in Scotland, and upon whom the wider events industry and supply chain are most reliant for their own business and operations.

Funding will be prioritised towards those businesses that can evidence and demonstrate they play a pivotal role across the events industry in Scotland and are in financial difficulty as a direct result of COVID-19.

Applicants can apply for grants from £25,000 up to a maximum £150,000, and the amount applied for should demonstrate financial need and will require to be evidenced at the application stage.

Application process and preparation

The application process for this fund is in three parts - Expression of Interest (part 1), Application stage (part 2) and Panel decision (part 3).

Expressions of Interest

Expressions of Interest for the Pivotal Event Businesses Fund will reopen temporarily to allow businesses who were unable to complete the EOI due to the Festive holiday period, the opportunity to apply.

Businesses can now submit an Expression of Interest (from Wednesday 13 January) until Monday 18 January 2021 at 5pm.

Before submitting an Expression of Interest, please review the full guidance document* and eligibility criteria to establish whether your business is eligible to apply. As part of the guidance, we have detailed the information you will need to provide to complete the Expression of Interest form.  *Please note that the dates outlined in this document refer to the original EOI timeline (December 2020).

You must have completed an Expression of Interest form to be eligible to be invited to submit a full application.  Please note organisations who have already submitted an unsuccessful EOI will not be eligible to re-submit an EOI form.

Submit an Expression of Interest.

Application and panel stage

From the EOIs, organisations which meet or exceed the eligibility criteria, and which are assessed to represent a sectoral and geographical spread of the most significant event organisers, suppliers and venues operating in Scotland, will then be asked to submit a full application.

Businesses which are asked to then submit a full application will from Tuesday 19 January 2021 be provided with the appropriate information and guidance to do so. Applications will not be assessed on a first come, first served basis.

Please note that not all businesses who are invited to apply may be successful in receiving a grant award, and those who are successful may not receive the full amount requested.
