Funding update - January 2022
On 3 January 2022, £19.8 million of funding was confirmed by the Scottish Government to support event businesses directly affected by the public health measures introduced to limit the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.
Businesses which were previously supported by EventScotland and VisitScotland under the Pivotal Events Businesses Fund will be contacted directly by email and asked to confirm core information as well as which the event(s) and date they were due to organise/supply during 8 December 2021 and 31 January 2022, and that the cancellation or restriction of such event(s) has resulted in a loss of projected income.
Eligible businesses will receive a top-up payment based on pre-COVID annual turnover:
- £10,000 - £24,999 = £2,000
- £25,000 - £49,999 = £3,500
- £50,000 - £99,999 = £5,000
- £100,000 - £499,999 = £10,000
- £500,000 - £999,999 = £25,000
- £1,000,000 + = £50,000
About the fund
The £6 million fund was being delivered by VisitScotland on behalf of the Scottish Government and was developed in consultation with the Event Industry Advisory Group, which you can read about on our dedicated page.
The fund was open to event businesses whose primary role as organisers, suppliers, contractors and venues is critical to the survival of the events sector in Scotland, and upon whom the wider events industry and supply chain are most reliant for their own business and operations.
Funding was prioritised towards those businesses that could evidence and demonstrate that they play a pivotal role across the events industry in Scotland and are in financial difficulty as a direct result of COVID-19.
Applicants could apply for grants from £25,000 up to a maximum £150,000.
