The National Events Conference is for all those working to create, deliver and support Scotland’s cultural and sporting events.
The Conference is organised and delivered on behalf of Scotland’s events and festivals sector by our Events Directorate and is an important part of working in partnership to deliver the National Events Strategy: Scotland the Perfect Stage.
Scotland’s sixth National Events Conference took place at the world-renowned Gleneagles Hotel on 9 September 2019, alongside one of the world’s greatest women’s sporting events - The Solheim Cup. Read on for a summary of the event and access to video footage from the sessions.
A look back on the 2019: Embracing Innovation, Delivering Change
Under the title Embracing Innovation, Delivering Change, the 2019 National Events Conference considered innovation, change, future opportunities and challenges across the sector.
The day included inspiring keynote presentations and practical breakout sessions. It provided over 200 delegates with a first-class opportunity to hear from industry experts and share experiences, plus plenty time to meet industry colleagues and enjoy the fabulous surroundings of the Gleneagles resort.
Also hosted at the Gleneagles Hotel that week was the 2019 Solheim Cup - the pinnacle of women’s golf and the largest sporting event in Scotland that year. The Solheim Cup saw the best golfers from Europe and the USA go head-to-head over four days of competition, attracting tens of thousands of spectators and reaching a global broadcast audience in the millions. Europe won with the final putt of the tournament!
Thank you to all who spoke, all who listened and all who helped to deliver an excellent conference in support of Scotland’s world-class events and festivals sector. We look forward to seeing you in 2021.
