Building a strong air network requires sustained, coordinated effort. We’ve played a central role in this long-term partnership with the Scottish Government, Transport Scotland and Scottish Development International, supporting Scotland’s airports to expand global connectivity and make it easier for visitors to reach Scotland as a must-visit, must-return destination.
Our international visitors are highly valuable to Scotland’s visitor economy, as they’re known to stay longer and spend more – which has a significant positive impact for businesses and communities across the country.
In 2026, Scotland has seen a number of new and reinstated international routes, strengthening connectivity and opening up key markets:
- Canadian airline WestJet returned to Glasgow Airport with the launch of a new direct service from Toronto
- United Airlines launched a non-stop, daily service between Glasgow and Newark
- Eurowings returns to Glasgow Airport with the launch of a brand-new seasonal service to Hanover
- American Airlines summer service from Edinburgh Airport to JFK Airport, New York using one of the newest aircrafts in the American Airlines fleet
- Air Canada increasing flight frequency from Edinburgh to Montreal, Canada. The route now operates four days a week between June and September, utilizing its new A321XLR fleet
Several existing routes have also been extended, reflecting sustained demand:
- Delta’s New York (JFK) to Edinburgh service is now operating year-round
- Hainan Airlines’ Beijing to Edinburgh route has been extended to year-round service
- American Airlines’ Philadelphia to Edinburgh route has been extended through to January 2027
