A well-managed portfolio of tourism and events can build a strong sense of place. It creates attractive business environments, promotes trade and investment opportunities, and provides support for local facilities, services, and infrastructure.
About our funding
Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund
Since 2018, we have administered the Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund (RTIF) on behalf of the Scottish Government.
This fund has improved the visitor experience in rural parts of Scotland.
It helps to address pressure on local infrastructure or any negative impacts on communities by providing additional facilities, such as toilets, parking, and motorhome facilities.
We deliver this fund in close collaboration with local partners to identify and complete strategic projects that further:
- improve infrastructure
- enhance visitor satisfaction
- encourage increased visitor spend into our rural communities
EventScotland funding
Our EventScotland team delivers the following funding programmes:
National Events Funding Programme
This programme is at the core of our work and is open in rounds, with application deadlines set each year. Awards of between £5,000 and £25,000 are available to eligible events.

International Events Funding Programme
This programme supports events that drive international tourism and media profile for Scotland. These events can take place anywhere in Scotland so long as they are targeting visitors from outside Scotland and across the world.
