Responsible for the creation and delivery of the People and Culture Plan, they lead strategic initiatives that attract, develop, and retain talent, while championing diversity, equity, safety and wellbeing.

Through robust policies, professional development programmes, and a focus on employee experience, this office works to build a positive working environment that aligns with our values and goals.

The People and Culture Office partner with leaders and teams and ensure our people, estate, and resilience plans drive success and sustainability.

Chief People and Culture Officer - Lynn Jack

Lynn has a long history with VisitScotland, beginning her career with the Area Tourist Board network in 1997 before moving to VisitScotland in 2004.

With a background in operational management, learning and development, and human resource management, Lynn has lead various areas of the business including Information Services, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources.

Lynn and her team have been involved in a number of significant projects during this period, including the provision of human resource management services to the UCI Cycling World Championships team.

Lynn is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Our People and Culture Office consists of the following two departments.

Estates and Resilience

Led by Steven Speedie, this team is responsible for:

  • Estates strategy and planning – creating an estate strategy to meet our current and future needs.
  • Workspace management – developing and managing offices and workspaces across Scotland for our employees to work and collaborate.
  • Health and safety – leading our health and safety policy and practices.
  • Business continuity and resilience – ensuring that critical operations can continue or quickly resume during and after disruptions, minimising impact on people, assets, and services.
  • Promoting internal sustainability – ensuring we are operating in a sustainable way and reducing the environmental impact of our activities.

Human Resources

Led by Lynn Jack, this team is responsible for:

  • Inclusive working – creating an inclusive environment for everyone to thrive and grow.
  • Talent management – attracting, retaining, and developing the talent we need now and in the future.
  • Workforce management – planning current and future needs and developing policies that support the delivery of our Corporate Plan and those of Public Service Reform.
  • Leadership development – growing and developing leaders.
  • Employee engagement – working with employees across the business through a variety of groups and forums.
  • Employer brand – creating a strong employer proposition supported by a willing and engaged workforce who act as advocates for VisitScotland and for Scotland.
