Use it or lose it
World Gaelic Week (Seachdain na Gàidhlig) 2026 is now underway, with celebrations taking place across Scotland and beyond to highlight the importance of the Scottish Gaelic language and culture.
Running until 1 March, this year’s theme, Cleachd i no caill i (Use it or lose it), focuses on encouraging people to actively use Gaelic in their everyday lives to help ensure the language continues to thrive for future generations. A full programme of events, activities and resources is available on the World Gaelic Week website.
We’re supporting the week with a range of activity across our digital channels, media and social media content, helping to showcase Gaelic to audiences at home and overseas.
An integral part of Scotland’s heritage, identify and culture, we’re committed to shining a spotlight on the language as a meaningful part of a visit to Scotland, enriching our communities and deepening visitors’ connection to the places they explore. And Seachdain na Gàidhlig is the perfect chance to do that.
