The forests and countryside of the north-east will be televised across the world next year as Rally Scotland announce a new broadcast deal and reveal its new logo and event identity.

Viewers here can watch Rally Scotland live on the BBC as the broadcaster confirms a three-year agreement to show the FIA World Rally Championship across the UK from 2027 to 2029.

The broadcast announcement comes as Rally Scotland reveals its new logo and event identity ahead of the championship’s return to the UK, giving Scotland’s first full WRC round a distinct look of its own.

About Rally Scotland

The event will bring the world’s best rally drivers, teams and fans to Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire for four days of high-speed entertainment.

The FIA World Rally Championship is a major global event with a substantial television audience, and spectators attend events in more than a dozen countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America.

Rally fans in the UK can follow all the action, as well as highlights and content on the BBC’s platforms.

Unique look and feel

The new identity draws on Scotland’s colours, symbols and rallying heritage. At its centre is a graphic device connecting the Scottish Saltire with the tread pattern of a World Rally Car tyre, bringing together national identity and the sport’s defining gravel surface.

It has been created for use across the event’s digital channels, broadcast graphics, signage, merchandise, fan zones, volunteer materials and partner activity as Rally Scotland moves towards its autumn 2027 debut.

Visitor economy boost

Hosting the World Rally Championships and Rally Scotland will deliver tangible economic and social benefits for Scotland, the region and communities along the route from spectators, teams, officials and event staff visiting.

It will present another opportunity to highlight Scotland’s culture, heritage, breath-taking landscapes, and our hospitality – reinforcing our reputation as a warm, welcoming destination.

Partnership benefits north-east

The World Rally Championships coming to the north-east represents a significant milestone, seven years since the event was last held in the UK, and 35 years since it’s last venture on Scottish soil.

Rally Scotland is part of a three-year agreement between Motorsport UK and WRC Promoter Cosmobilis to bring the championship back to the UK from 2027 to 2029, supported by the Scottish Government through VisitScotland, Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council.

The brand identity across digital channels has also been revealed to begin generating interest in the event.

Rally Scotland is already a major addition to Scotland’s events portfolio, and today’s announcements helps build excitement for next year's event.

The BBC’s free-to-air broadcast partnership gives us a fantastic platform to showcase Scotland to audiences across the UK, from our dramatic landscapes and vibrant communities to the visitor experiences that make the country such a powerful stage for major events.

For Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and the wider north-east, this is a chance to be seen by spectators, teams, media and fans well beyond the rally routes themselves. Major events like this drive visitor demand, support local businesses and help introduce new audiences to parts of Scotland they may not yet know. With Rally Scotland joining a stellar line-up of events in 2027, this is another opportunity to show why Scotland is a must-visit tourism and events destination.

Rob Dickson, Director of Industry and Events at VisitScotland

Rally Scotland already has the raw ingredients of a great World Rally Championship round: fast gravel roads, an incredibly supportive host city in Aberdeen, a strong base at TECA and a rally community that knows how to deliver.

Today’s reveal of the new Rally Scotland logo and identity is another important step as we build towards 2027. The event now has a clear mark of its own: a stylised Saltire, shaped from the imprint of a rally car tyre and placed at the heart of the brand’s new identity. It gives Rally Scotland a look that feels rooted in the country, connected to the sport and ready for a major global event.

It also comes on a significant day for the rally. The BBC agreement gives Rally Scotland and the wider WRC a national platform from 2027, helping us reach long-standing fans and bring new audiences into the sport. It is an exciting development as we build towards a rally that can make a real mark for Scotland and for British motorsport.

Hugh Chambers, CEO of Motorsport UK, the organisation behind Rally Scotland

The World Rally Championship is a prestigious event in the motorsports calendar – and I am delighted that Scotland will host a leg in Aberdeenshire from next year until 2029.

This new event will be a chance to showcase a unique part of our beautiful country to a global audience and re-enforce Scotland’s credentials in hosting major events, following this year’s Summer of Sport, which has seen us host the Commonwealth Games and the Men’s and Women’s Scottish Opens.

I hope the new Rally Scotland event will also help raise the profile of the sport in Scotland and attract new competitors and fans to a thrilling competition.
