A significant milestone for Fife

Welcome to Fife has announced that Dunfermline has been awarded "Coach Friendly" accreditation by the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT), becoming one of only three destinations in Scotland to receive this prestigious recognition. The award was presented during National Coach Week 2025 and highlights Dunfermline’s outstanding commitment to welcoming coach operators, their passengers, and drivers.

The accreditation marks a significant milestone in Fife’s drive to support sustainable and inclusive tourism, positioning Dunfermline as a key destination for group travel across the UK and beyond.

The accreditation follows a concerted effort by Fife Council, transport providers, local businesses and attractions to improve the city’s coach facilities, access, and visitor experience. Dunfermline was also named one of the UK’s top 10 coach destinations by CPT during National Coach Week.

Coach tourism contributes an estimated £675 million annually to Scotland’s economy. As a low-carbon alternative to car and air travel, coach trips play a crucial role in sustainable tourism, reducing congestion and emissions while supporting high-street businesses and cultural venues.

This achievement supports Welcome to Fife’s broader goal of attracting more group tours to the region, reinforcing Fife’s reputation as a welcoming, accessible and rewarding place to visit.
