Tourism has been one of the greatest economic casualties of the COVID-19 pandemic and at VisitScotland we’re focused on the recovery of the industry, continuing to work with, and support, businesses to ensure we rebuild this vital part of Scotland’s economy.

This week, our corporate communications team will be embarking on the first in a series of social media regional takeovers, helping to shine the spotlight on individual areas across Scotland, and all the fantastic things to see and do.

Engaging the domestic market and promoting Scotland as a staycation destination remains a priority. The tourism industry needs the support of the people in Scotland as it starts to recover.

This week, our focus will be on Edinburgh and the Lothians and we would like to encourage regional businesses to engage and get involved.

On Wednesday (21 July), the VisitScotland corporate twitter channel @VisitScotNews will dedicate the day to raising awareness of Scotland’s tourism offering in Edinburgh and the Lothians to consumers and to industry.

To engage with the activity, tag your tweets with @VisitScotNews and use #VisitScotland.

There will also be updates from our Regional Leadership Director, Paula Ward, and Regional Director, Neil Christison, as well as much more!

Keep up-to-date with the rest of our activity by following our Linkedin, Twitter, Media Centre and regional Facebook group. If you're not already a member, you can join our Lothians closed Facebook group for local tourism businesses.
