You can usually visit our recruitment portal anonymously. VisitScotland makes use of analytics technology to measure website usage patterns, for example page traffic. The tools we use for doing so sometimes involve placing “cookies” or other tracking technologies on your web browser or device. You will always be informed when we place essential or analytics cookies on your device (using a cookie management banner which gives you options to accept or deny tracking and marketing cookies). We will not place tracking cookies on your device without your prior consent. If you choose to deny tracking cookies you can still browse the recruitment portal anonymously.
When you visit a specific page on the VisitScotland recruitment portal having clicked on a link in an email, promotion, advert or social media post, your arrival on that “landing page” will be logged anonymously and your subsequent movement around the portal logged - again, in an anonymised way - using an analytics system.
Note that when you interact with elements on the recruitment portal which collect personal data, for example a signup form, this will usually record your IP address. It will also involve the collection of identity and contact information in the context of some of the data collection methods noted elsewhere on this list of activities.
When you visit the recruitment portal for access to or delivery of services which requires you to be logged in, your activity will be subject to log entries collected by VisitScotland IT systems. This has more to do with maintaining the security and integrity of our IT systems than it does with looking at your personal activity. However it does mean that, should it be necessary to investigate a problem or complaint, the IT department will be able to tell when you were logged in to certain IT systems and what you did while you were there. This information is logged as part of our accountability and Legitimate Interest with regard to the security and integrity of personal and other data held in VisitScotland systems.
