Picture the scene...

Rows of tables, giant countdown screens, and a hall buzzing with conversation. Passionate Scottish tourism businesses came together with travel buyers from across the world.

Our annual flagship travel trade VisitScotland Connect, supported by Visit Glasgow, took place at the SEC in Glasgow - proudly recognised as a UNESCO City of Music, on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 April. This year’s theme celebrated Scotland’s rich musical heritage and culture. Attendees were treated to a line-up of artists, bands and curated playlists - offering a taste of the city and Scotland’s vibrant music scene throughout this year’s event.

Just as music connects people, so too does VisitScotland Connect.

Since its inception, the event has brought Scottish tourism businesses together with international and domestic buyers for two full days of in-person meeting. But more than an event, VisitScotland Connect is a catalyst, opening doors to new markets, new relationships, and new opportunities that drive meaningful and sustainable tourism growth.

Marketing Director, Jill Walker opened the event, highlighting the vital role VisitScotland Connect plays in strengthening the partnerships that underpin Scotland’s visitor economy. At its heart, the event reflects an industry built on collaboration - between destinations and tour operators, accommodation and experience providers, and communities and global partners.

Here’s a snapshot of this year’s event, bringing to life the energy and ambition behind VisitScotland Connect.

Travel Distribution Seminar

For tourism experiences new to working with travel trade, Online Travel Agents (OTAs) and online booking systems, our Travel Distribution Seminar provided a vital first step.

On Tuesday 14 April, we hosted our third annual Travel Distribution Seminar, welcoming more than 30 Scottish tourism experiences. The event offered offers practical insights into achieving sustainable growth within the travel distribution landscape, working effectively with OTAs, and hearing directly from industry experts including Bokun, Civitatis, FareHarbor, GetYourGuide, Headout, Klook, Rezgo, Ventrata and Viator.

VisitScotland Connect dinner – a moment

The VisitScotland Connect dinner extended the value of the event beyond the meeting programme, bringing almost 500 buyers and Scottish tourism businesses together in a relaxed and celebratory setting.

Opening with a civic reception from the Lord Provost, the evening set the tone through reflections that highlighted the role of partnership, place, music and long‑term collaboration in supporting Scotland’s visitor economy.

With a performance from Glasgow‑based band Tàlisk followed by a lively ceilidh band, the dinner showcased Scotland’s contemporary and traditional culture. The evening helped deepen connections, build on conversations from the day and strengthen relationships that will continue beyond the meeting tables.

Experiencing Scotland first-hand

To complement the workshops at the SEC, we curated a programme of familiarisation trips (fam trips).

From islands to cities, buyers and travel trade media from across the globe travelled alongside our teams before and after the workshop, immersing themselves in Scotland’s distinctive and authentic experiences.

The programme spanned more than 22 regions, showcasing 170 businesses with themes including community and meaningful travel, culture and cuisine, luxury escapes, and discovering Scotland by rail.

With a strong focus on sustainability, the fam trips enabled travel trade representatives to experience first-hand a diverse mix of destinations and products across Scotland.
