Scotland’s year of world-class cycling events continues as the Sportsbreaks.com Tour Series, a unique professional men’s and women’s team-based cycling race, heads to Scotland for first of two rounds next week.

Galashiels will host the round two of seven on Wednesday 4 May before Stranraer hosts round four on Thursday 12 May.

Now in its 13th year, the Tour Series is cycling’s leading free, spectator-friendly event, as the hour-long men’s and women’s race allow fans to see Britain’s leading riders repeatedly, with the racing accompanied by a high-octane DJ set and festival atmosphere.

Reigning champions Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling and CAMS – Basso, former winners WiV SunGod, and fledgling New Zealand team Global 6 Cycling will be among the 26 teams competing in this year’s Series  along with the Scotland-based Alba Development Road Team, who will be the only debutantes in the women’s event and are sure to will enjoy home support in both Galashiels and Stranraer.

Megan Barker, medalist at last year’s Track World Championships, leads her CAMS – Basso team as they seek to make it a hat-trick of titles in the women’s series. Meanwhile, home crowds can look forward to cheering on Scots Finn Crocket and Sturt Balfour as part of Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling, who will be buoyed by their victory in the CiCLE Classic one-day race courtesy of Finn Crockett last weekend. A successful defence of their crown would see them become the third-consecutive men’s team (after JLT Condor and Wiv SunGod) to win back-to-back titles.

Fans who can’t make it to one of the events will be able to follow the action live for the first time with every round of the Sportsbreaks.com Tour Series streamed live on the Tour’s YouTube channel with no geo-restrictions. Highlights of both the men’s and women’s races will once again be aired on ITV4 the evening after every event.

The Tour Series is part of an exciting calendar of ten cycling events taking place this year across the country as we build towards hosting next year’s inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships, the biggest cycling event in the world.
