We're representing Scottish tourism at a major global event, Expo 2020 Dubai, to promote innovation and cultural exchange.

Expo 2020 Dubai is a World Expo, taking place from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022 with around 190 participating nations. World Expo's are one of the world’s longest-running and largest international events, taking place every five years and lasting six months. Scotland at Expo has planned a five-day programme of exciting, informative and educational activity to experience at the UK Pavilion, in person or online.

We teamed up with partners, VisitBritain and Tourism Ireland, to organise a travel trade industry event at the Expo.

On Tuesday 23 November, we met with top level executives from the travel industry in the UAE, and beyond, including travel agents, advisors, operators and airlines, at a special event that marked the end of a week-long events programme at the Expo which focused on "How Will We Travel".

Alongside VisitBritain and Tourism Ireland we also announced the launch of ten exciting new itineraries for trips across the UK, as part of the event.

On 30 November, we've teamed up with the Scottish Government and Scottish Development International, to host a invitation-only St Andrew’s Day reception for delegates from across the UAE. This event will be a celebration of the Year of Stories as the themed year is introduced on an international stage for the first time.

We’re excited to be at Expo 2020 Dubai to showcase the diverse travel trade products that Scotland and the UK offer. Bringing together key contacts from across our travel trade networks in the UAE, the event on 23 November presented a unique opportunity to encourage travel agents, advisors, and operators to put Scotland at the forefront of new product development for future travel.

Looking ahead to the reception on 30 November, we will be working with our Team Scotland partners to bring Scotland to the heart of Expo 2020 Dubai. As well as celebrating St Andrew’s Day, we’ll also be looking forward to the Year of Stories as we inspire our guests with stories from Scotland throughout the event.
