A great way to enjoy amazing days out

People can enjoy great days out to hundreds of attractions across the country, using the Scotland Loves Local Gift Card.

Historic sites, adventure attractions, leisure and sporting venues are among the places where the cards can now be spent.

More than 250 attractions are now signed up to accept one of the regional gift cards in place across the country, with that number growing all of the time.

That’s on top of the many more places where people can eat and drink as part of their day out, whether they’re with their partner, family or going solo.

Almost 4,500 businesses across the country - from supermarkets and clothes retailers to beauty salons and hotels - have registered to accept the card.

With cards available for each of Scotland’s 32 local authority areas, their positive impact as a form of local currency is growing. The cards have already injected millions of pounds into regional economies.

This makes them the ideal way to spend with attractions and places to visit either close to home or to use them as a way to show your support for local businesses as you visit other areas of the country.

The Scotland Loves Local Gift Card is an extension of the Scotland Loves Local campaign, which encourages everyone to think, choose and spend locally.

Spearheaded by Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP) and supported by the Scottish Government, the gift card scheme is being delivered by Perth-based fintech Miconex, working alongside local authorities and others.

Using the gift card

People visiting other areas can also purchase gift cards ahead of their trip to show their support for local businesses while enjoying their day.

Scotland Loves Local Gift Cards can only be spent in the regions for which they are branded.

They are available for anyone to buy from the Scotland Loves Local webpage.

Some local authorities have also used the cards to disburse funds to lower income households as part of work to help communities recover from the long-term impact of the coronavirus pandemic. This has included Glasgow City Council, where they have so far injected in excess of £7.9 million into local businesses of all kinds while helping residents through the cost of living crisis.

How can my business get involved?

Registering is simple and it’s free for your business to participate and receive payments through the card. To register, simply complete a registration form on the Scotland Loves Local website and their team will do the rest.
