The South of Scotland Thistle Awards regional final was held in The Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries last week (Thursday 5 October). There, the Borders Book Festival won in the outstanding cultural event or festival category.

Borders Book Festival 2022 is the third EventScotland-supported event to win a regional award so far.

Fringe by the Sea and Dandelion have already won in the central and east category and the west category respectively. Further north, Spectra won in the Aberdeen city and shire region.

Borders Book Festival is delighted to have won this prestigious award.

We really value such a positive endorsement of our work and our enhanced programme in 2022, celebrating Scotland’s Year of Stories.

None of it would have been possible without the support of our community, our volunteers, and our small and very passionate team.

About the Scottish Thistle Awards

The Scottish Thistle Awards are delivered by VisitScotland in partnership with regional awards programmes.

Following the ceremonies for the central and east, Aberdeen city and shire, the west and the south, there is now just one remaining final. The Highlands and islands final takes place in Inverness on Thursday 10 November.

Regional winners will then go through to battle it out for a national accolade at the national final in December.

The awards champion innovation, collaboration, and sustainable practices. This is in line with the ambitions of the national tourism strategy, Outlook 2030.
