VisitScotland congratulates Dunfermline on city status
Dunfermline has been named Scotland’s eighth city as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The official announcement was made today (20 May) that the Fife town will join Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth and Stirling to receive city status.
Dunfermline is home to a number of popular attractions, including Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries, Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum, Dunfermline Abbey Church - which is the last resting place of Robert the Bruce and nine other Scottish monarchs - Dunfermline Abbey & Palace, St Margaret’s Cave and Pittencrieff Park – a beautiful public park gifted by Andrew Carnegie.
