Shetland Webcams, the most northerly network of live webcams in the UK, is offering local tourism businesses free advertising space to highlight that Shetland is open for business.
With 16 live webcams based across Shetland, viewers can watch at the likes of Lerwick Market Cross, Fjara Sealevel Cam, the cliffs at Sumburgh Head and PuffinCam from the comfort of their homes.
To support Shetland's local businesses, owner of Shetland Webcams, Andy Steven, is offering free advertising space (360x100) from 1 September 2020 to 31 August 2021 on the Market Cross Camera. Advertising costs for this space are usually valued at £249 per year.
Shetland webcams have received 618,000 visits since 1 January 2020, and almost two million webpage views in the same time frame. Viewers have tuned in from across the globe; from locations throughout the UK, United States, Italy, Canada, Australia, and more. The average time spent viewing is eight minutes and 30 seconds, which is more than double the 2018 figures. During lockdown, webcam views have been achieving between 4,000 – 5,900 views each day.
