Earlier this year, prior to lockdown, we completed our print project for 2020. We printed almost a million copies of our 24 titles, including 18 regional Explore guides and niche guides (Active, Golf, Walk and Fish) as well as a Gardens guide for Dumfries & Galloway and our Caravan and Camping map. Many of these titles are dated 2020/21 and were intended to have a shelf life into spring 2021.
Distribution of the guides began in January through to March 2020 and was closely followed by COVID-19 reaching the UK along with restrictions that have meant we were unable to use these titles as planned, during our busy peak season.
Due to the disruption to tourism this year, and being mindful of ensuring advertisers receive value for money, it has been decided that we will continue to distribute these existing titles throughout 2021.
Extending the shelf life of these titles will ensure our sustainability commitments are met by removing the need to pulp large quantities of unused stock. We hope this move will also ensure value for money for those businesses who paid for advertising and have missed out on potential business from our guides being distributed during 2020.
Each guide will have a message label attached to the front cover prior to distribution advising that all details should be confirmed with businesses and event organisers.
