ONFife brings together some of Fife’s best-loved food and drink to celebrate summer outdoors with a new twice-weekly summer café and bar venture, The Advantage, at the Adam Smith Theatre, Kirkcaldy.
The new venture launched last weekend (Friday 24 July and Saturday 25 July) and will be located at the front of the theatre on Fridays and Saturdays until September.
Local producers such as Kangus Coffee House and the Buffalo Farm; award-winning Jannettas Gelateria from St Andrews, St Andrews Brewing Co and Eden Mill Gin are all offering visitors a taste of summer. A hand-crafted, bespoke afternoon tea service is also available, and is provided by Hatters of Newburgh.
We were blown away by the support we had [on our first weekend]. We set out to reconnect with the community as we ease out of lock-down, provide a safe space where people can come together to enjoy good food and drink and the company of friends, and at the same time give a helping hand to local producers who have been facing tough times over the last five months.
The feedback we’ve had from customers has been overwhelmingly positive and we’ve been genuinely touched by some of the stories. We even had visitors who said this was their very first social get-together since lock-down began.
The weather is looking fantastic again for this weekend so we’re now looking forward to welcoming back customers who had a great time with us last weekend and saying hello to new faces, too.
The Advantage is located outside the Theatre, however an alternative space has been set up inside so the celebrations can safely continue should the weather change. The café and bar is operating fully in line with Scottish Government guidelines, with appropriate physical distancing measures in place, and there’s the option to take-away produce in addition to the sit-in offering.
The Advantage will be open on from 10am – 6pm, on Fridays and Saturdays until September.
