Campbeltown Town Hall and Keeping it Local Campbeltown, both located on the town’s main street, have joined an impressive network of over 140 VisitScotland iKnow Partners across Argyll & the Isles. The iKnow Partner programme harnesses the local knowledge, warmth and enthusiasm of partners across the country to help visitors receive the warmest of welcomes and make the most of their trip to Scotland.

Constructed in 1760, Campbeltown Town Hall has been at the heart of the South Kintyre community for over 250 years and has recently undergone a transformation to be fully restored and modernised for the 21st Century. With funding support from Big Lottery Fund, Campbeltown Townscape Heritage Initiative, Historic Scotland, Local Energy Scotland and the local authority, the hall is now owned and operated by South Kintyre Development Trust on behalf of the local community.

Keeping it local Campbeltown is a local social enterprise set up to provide locals and visitors in Kintyre with information about businesses and services in the area, as well as providing support for those who wish to start their own business. They also promote events and businesses on digital screens around Kintyre.

Both venues are established community hubs and ideal partners for our innovative approach to information provision. The iKnow Partner accreditation will add value to the service they offer and make it easier than ever before for visitors to connect with local businesses. This will support the local economy and ensure communities and businesses in Campbeltown enjoy the benefits brought by tourism.

The iKnow Partner programme has been very popular across Scotland with over 2,000 accommodation providers, visitor attractions and social enterprises joining up to ensure visitors receive first-class information.

The programme is open to all Quality Assured businesses, as well as community groups, local authority-operated library services and social enterprises. We provide our partner sites with official signage and collateral, promotional material and information resources to make sure visitors receive an excellent standard of information about the local area and the rest of Scotland.

Campbeltown is a fantastic town with a wonderful tourism offering. We are delighted to work with VisitScotland to ensure visitors have the best experience possible.

Keeping it Local Campbeltown is all about helping providing important information for people in the town. It therefore made perfect sense to join VisitScotland’s iKnow Partner programme which will support us in helping visitors and locals connect with businesses.

Partnership and collaboration are at the heart of Scottish tourism and I’m thrilled to see these two fantastic venues join the VisitScotland iKnow Partner programme.

The programme celebrates and supports tourism businesses as they act as local ambassadors and help provide information, assistance and advice on all there is to see and do here. This follows a growing trend among consumers to use online resources to plan their trips and we now have partners throughout the country providing high quality information and advice to visitors with whom they interact.
