Tourism Statistics


VisitScotland manages a suite of statistical surveys which combine to monitor the progress of tourism in Scotland.

 

These include:

  • The Great Britain Tourism Survey - which provides volume and value estimates of domestic tourism (from within Scotland and the rest of the UK) as well as other data.
  • The Office of National Statistics' International Passenger Survey - which provides details of tourism from abroad
  • The Scottish Accommodation Occupancy Survey - which gathers and analyses data on occupancy levels from businesses including hotels, bed and breakfasts, self-caterers, caravanning and camping parks and hostels.
  • The Great Britain Day Visits Survey - which gathers information to measure the volume and value of tourism day visits taken by GB residents to destinations in the UK
