Highlands Visitor Surveys A number of different public sector organisations play an important role in delivering the tourism product in the Highlands of Scotland. Local visitor surveys assist since 1996 these organisations in developing strategic plans.
The main objectives of local visitor surveys are to find out:
- Who visits the area?
- Where do they stay?
- What do they do while they are here?
2002/03 Visitor Survey – Interim and Full Reports In order to extend and update knowledge about visitors who come to the Highlands, a group of organizations (Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Highland Council, Highlands of Scotland Tourist Board, Scottish Natural Heritage, Forest Enterprise, VisitScotland) commissioned a large-scale survey of visitors to the Highlands during 2002/3.
