Edinburgh & Lothians Tourism Accommodation Audit

Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian, VisitScotland and the councils of the City of Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian commissioned a report to provide a comprehensive audit of the accommodation sector in Edinburgh and Lothians and its supply and demand position.

The report reveals that the number of beds available in the region has risen by 25% over the past seven years and that overall occupancy levels are at an impressive 65% with hotels achieving near full occupancy during peak periods.

The report also reveals that the recent growth is expected to continue over the next decade requiring major new investment in tourism accommodation infrastructure.
