How Does the Law Affect Me and My Business?
Whatever the size and type of business you run, the law has an impact on the way you operate.
Everything from employing staff and their rates of pay to preparing and serving food are governed by the law. If you provide entertainment or sell drink, then there are other laws to consider.
Trading Standards Law The following legislations are enforced by Trading Standards or Consumer Protection Departments and may have an impact on tourism businesses: Trade Descriptions Act 1968, The Consumer Protection Act 1987, The Tourism (Sleeping Accommodation Price Display) Order 1977, The Weights and Measures Act 1985, The Price Making Order 1991, The Children and Young Persons Act, 1991, Package Travel Regulations 1992, The Furniture and Furnishings Regulations 1988.
Copies of the Regulations can be obtained from Her Majesty's Stationery Office, HMSO Publications Centre, PO Box 276, London, SW8 5DT, or through HMSO bookshops
