ALLFV Tourism Action Plan 2006

The Argyll, Loch Lomond and Forth Valley Tourism Action Plan "A Framework for Growth" is now available.

The preparation of an Argyll, Loch Lomond and Forth Valley Action Plan was seen as one of the first priorities of the Area Tourism Partnership as it established a joint framework for what needs to be done in the area to contribute towards the ambition to grow tourism by 50% by 2015.

The 63 actions have come from a series of 10 workshops, involving over 100 local businesses, the Area Tourism Partnership and officers from a wide range of agencies. They are to be implemented over the five-year period, based on four key principles:

  • marketing,
  • sustainability,
  • making the most of market intelligence
  • exceeding visitor expectations – providing the ‘wow factor’ that encourages visitors to come again and recommend to others.

The action plan details how the area will contribute to the national growth agenda in the next five years, in a range of measures that will increase the value of tourism locally from £660 million to £800 million by 2010 and create over 2,000 jobs in the process. A further 25 per cent growth in a second five-year phase to 2015 will value the region’s contribution at £1 billion.

The challenge now is for all tourism partners, including every tourism business, to give some consideration to what they can do within the framework of the Action Plan to grow their own business and tourism across the area.
