Our Themed Years celebrate the very best of Scotland and its people. The latest edition, Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022, was a great success and work is now underway to scope out options for a future Themed Year.
Themed Years inspire groups and organisations to innovate and develop product and campaigns. They provide opportunities for artists and event organisers. They encourage community engagement, responsible tourism, diversity and inclusion. Uniting around a common theme creates shared promotional benefits.
We are working with the Scottish Government to examine the potential delivery options and thematic focus for a future Themed Year. Recommendations are to be provided to Scottish Ministers who will determine what the future actions might be by the close of 2023.
