Springboard Scotland

Springboard Scotland offers a wide range of valuable services free of charge, such as Specialist Careers Advice Sessions, Careers Talks, The Springboard Trail, CV advice, information on employment opportunities and much more.

Since its launch in July 1998 Springboard Scotland has been working positively to establish effective partnerships to promote the Springboard message throughout Scotland. Working closely with both the Industry and Education sectors strong links have been forged in order to promote the Hospitality Leisure and Tourism industries, and to support potential recruits by providing information, careers advice and opportunities.

Springboard UK has produced the exciting and innovative Springteractive multimedia careers advisory programme, which has proven to be very popular with further and higher education establishments as well as with Jobcentre Plus. There are also Springboard Video Speakers Packs, which assist greatly when presenting on the Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure Industries, which are widely used in presentations by Springboard Young Ambassadors.

Springboard Scotland currently undertakes the following activities:

The Discovery Trails
The Glasgow Trail is a journey of discovery through one of the worlds most dynamic and energetic cities. The objective of the Trail is to discover the diversity of the Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure industries and the huge range of career paths that are available. Trails can be geared to groups of any size and are vastly popular with school/ college groups.

The Edinburgh Trail has been recently developed with the advent of our new centre, similar in concept to the Glasgow Trail, the Edinburgh Trail departs from the historic Edinburgh Castle down the Royal Mile and North Bridge onto the famous Princes Street.

Springboard aims to have a Discovery Trail in other major towns or cities across Scotland.

Presentations to Schools
Springboard Scotland are willing and able to visit schools to present on a number of topics, in relation to general careers in the Tourism & Hospitality Industries or more focused on Intermediate and Higher qualifications in Hospitality and Travel & Tourism.

Business Dynamics
Springboard Scotland supports the Business Dynamic Course run throughout Scottish schools to S5 and S6 students providing Tourism & Hospitality themed sessions in Marketing, Finance, Management and Human Resources.

Skills Challenges
These are large scale and very popular events where schools meet industry in a dynamic and exciting manner. Senior pupils get the opportunity to sample the enormous variety of work within the hospitality sector all under one roof at a major industry venue. These enormous events are specifically devised to encourage improved communication between the Industry and Education.

Schools Careers Fairs
Springboard Scotland is a keen supporter of secondary school careers fairs throughout the country. We provide the most up to date information on pathways to careers in hospitality, tourism and leisure. Pupils are able to try out the skills match on Springteractive, Springboard's multimedia careers programme. This gives the pupils the opportunity of discovering what job might be suitable after they leave school.

Future Chef
Competing in FutureChef is a great learning experience giving you the chance to develop and cook amazing dishes. The extensive publicity and fantastic prizes will certainly help you on the way to ‘celebrated chef’ status.

Who Wants to be a Hotelier?
