Country Sports

Country Sports in Scotland includes sports such as fishing / angling, deer stalking and shooting.

Scotland has a lot to offer for tourists with an interest in fishing. VisitScotland commissioned fishing tourism research in 2005 and 2007, in order to understand better what type of fishing tourists Scotland attracts, what characterises their holiday, and how Scotland is rated against competitor destinations.

The Scottish Country Sports Tourism Group commissioned a country sports research project in 2004 to find out more about the Scottish country sports tourism market. The main aim was to obtain statistical information on country sports tourism, but also further information on the characteristics of country sports tourists (where they are from, who they are, how they book etc.), attitudes of people involved organising such activities, trends in taking part in country sports (UK & Overseas), and Scotland's strengths and weaknesses.
