Partner Events Programme
Introduction
The Year of Creative Scotland's Partner Events
Programme gives event organisers an opportunity to have their event
promoted alongside other major cultural events and activities
taking place across the country throughout 2012.
Once you have submitted your event and it has
been approved, not only will it appear in the VisitScotland
events listings, but the details you have supplied will be
added to a list of events that will be considered for further
promotion under the Year of Creative Scotland banner. Examples of
how these details have been used include:
- Monthly Year of Creative Scotland double page spread in The
List magazine
- Highlight events on www.visitscotland.com/creative
- Journalist pitches
- VisitScotland press releases
- In briefings to Scottish Government Ministers
The degree of profile offered to each partner
event will vary in accordance with the relative scale and
significance of the event or activity and its overall fit with the
wider programme for the Year.
It is likely that only events of national
significance and those which provide a strong platform to promote
the Year of Creative Scotland internationally will be featured on
the full suite of VisitScotland websites.
To qualify for this opportunity, your
event must:
- Include content of an artistic, creative or
heritage nature.
- Be open to the public and have the ability
and capacity to attract visitors.
- Take place in Scotland during 2012.
- Be confirmed prior to submission of the
registration form (and include the event date, venue and ticket
information).
-
Fit with the objectives of the Year of
Creative Scotland. These are:
- Promotion – to raise the profile of Scotland nationally
and internationally as a creatively vibrant country and a world
class cultural tourism destination.
- Celebration – to support events and
programmes that celebrate the contribution of Scotland’s
places and people in making us a leading creative nation
- Participation – to inspire the people of
Scotland and our visitors to participate in the arts, with
particular emphasis on removing barriers to participation
- Collaboration – to encourage
collaborative working between the creative and tourism sectors
In return, partner events must be able
to support the marketing of the Year of Creative Scotland
through their own promotional activity by using the Year of
Creative Scotland logo and key messages.
