Skill Development Scotland

Supporting people and businesses to make the most of opportunities which exist within the tourism sector, Skills Development Scotland offers a wide range of support services.

Our Skillsforce

Our Skillsforce website helps businesses recruit, develop and plan their workforce. It contains national and local information on the skills support available from public sector organisations in Scotland.

It provides:

  • Skills plan for Scotland's tourism sector which outlines an action plan to attract more people into tourism and develop leadership within the sector.
  • Up-to-date information on national and local labour markets, enabling employers to quickly access the services they need.
  • Each quarter the results of an employer skills survey is published on the web service and, through a Skills Alert feature, employers can flag their specific skills needs and be assisted to the best package of support available.

My world of work

My World of Work helps individuals develop career management skills. It offers practical resources to build a CV; search for vacancies and explore training opportunities.

With a section specifically on tourism:

  • Individuals can explore how to get into the sector, what it’s like to work there and its future outlook for careers.
  • The web service also provides information on funding and training available to support people into a job in tourism.
