Funding opportunities

Growth Fund

The VisitScotland Growth Fund is designed to support industry groups with marketing projects. The fund supports projects aimed at increasing visitor numbers and reaching new target markets.

Funding can cover 50% of approved marketing costs from £10,000 - £40,000.

Business Improvement districts

A Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) provides a sustainable financial model to help tourism businesses work and invest collectively to support the growth and development of local tourism.

A TBID can be developed across a group of businesses in an area or Destination Management Organisation. It gives local tourism businesses a voice and a financial stake in the future direction of tourism in their area.

By collaborating formally through a TBID, tourism businesses can widen their markets, improve productivity and achieve cost advantages normally associated with larger national companies.

The Scottish Business Portal

Delivered by the Scottish Government in partnership with local authorities, enterprise agencies and other public bodies across Scotland, the Scottish Business Portal signposts to a range of funding opportunities for the tourism and travel sector.

Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology 2017

The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) is delighted to be an active and supportive partner in 2017’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology. HLF has allocated funds, raised through the National Lottery, available for exciting new projects to help people up and down the country explore, enjoy, and share the heritage we all care about.
HLF are offering grants of £3,000 to £10,000 to projects that engage a new and wider range of people with their history through Stories, Stones and Bones

There are two deadlines to apply to Stories, Stones and Bones. The first deadline is Friday 30 September 2016 (decisions in November 2016) and the second is Tuesday 31 January 2017 (decisions in March 2017).

A list of other potential funding opportunities for the year is also available. This list will be reviewed and updated as part of the collaborative effort to support the year.
