Industry and Destination Development

Our Industry and Destination Development directorate's remit is to develop and maintain direct relations with a wide range of partners, with the main aim of making sure that tourism is seen as an important and valuable industry for Scotland. It does this through influencing a range of partners and stakeholders including tourism businesses, industry bodies, including Destination Management Organisations and local authorities.

There are three departments in this directorate:

The Engagement team is responsible for the operational delivery of VisitScotland’s Quality Assurance scheme and also offers support and advice to a mixed audience of tourism businesses. They also work on route development and partnerships, global intermediary marketing strategy, internationalisation platform and intermediary account strategy and global travel trade strategy and delivery.

The Information team is responsible for the VisitScotland iCentre network and aims to provide excellent customer service and inspired information to visitors. The team also manages our retail and ticketing offering, Outreach and Coo-van programme delivery plus the VisitScotland Information Partner programme development and delivery.

Regional Leadership and Development

Regional Leadership and Development is responsible for the development of our engagement with industry and key stakeholders across the visitor economy. This includes development of the future direction of the organisation’s approach to services and supporting achievement of the Tourism 2020 strategy targets, as well as VisitScotland’s corporate objectives around Quality and Sustainability, and Working in Partnership.
